The Rotating (sic) Rock Panels 3

Now we hook it up to a motor (actually, you need to do this first). I got this 9V gear motor from Electronics Goldmine (www.goldmine-elec.com) for a few bucks and mounted it my outside wood frame (not attached to the elevator frame). Directly across from it, you can see I am using a wooden dowel for a pin to hold the other side of my cardboard axle.

I then made a ramshackle setup with the gears, a stiff cardboard tube and wooden dowels. Not much to look at but it worked.

Now, add panels as described before...

You can see two PVC pipes in this picture. Those are not the PVC pipes I was talking about earlier as these panels are shown on the "up" side of the track. Those pipes helped keep the panels from twisting. You will also notice the counterweight attached to the chain. That is there because this picture was taken after I realized my error and knew I would not be able to operate the full loop. Shed a tear for me. I was so close.
